Business Continuity Update re:COVID-19
After much consideration and careful monitoring of the latest Government information regarding our working situation, and for the protection of staff, MGS have altered our business activities in the short term to reflect the current circumstances.
We are of course continuing to review the situation on a daily basis, hence further updates may follow.
At MGS, we look after a wide range of customers and sites. Many have gone into full lockdown and/or are now inaccessible for our staff. For others however, and in particular some key Infrastructure, (i.e. Rail, Local Authority and Hospital/Surgery type customers), they rely on our service to operate correctly (and in some cases safely and securely), so we need to maintain Engineering cover and support these critical services and indeed some other sites as required.
Our business therefore remains open for urgent on-site maintenance and repair works. Other aspects and areas of the business will be scaled back accordingly. Many suppliers are now closed, most notably glass companies, however we had prepared for this eventuality and have increased our vehicle and central stock levels accordingly.
We have again briefed our Staff on the Government and Health advice of safe working practices/distances and will continue to do so. Specifically, in the unlikely event that two may be required to attend, a detailed risk assessment will be provided with particular emphasis on working a minimum of 2 metres apart and safe and clean handling of equipment. If this is not possible we may be unable to complete the works. In this situation one engineer will try to affect a temporary repair until such time the work can be completed safely.
Door Repair Emergencies, Servicing and Planned Maintenance
We continue to provide full 24/7 coverage for emergencies and reactive repairs, service and maintenance for essential businesses and critical infrastructure.
In these cases and where applicable, we will continue to cover critical PPM works to honour statutory maintenance requirements for automatic doors, industrial doors and shutters, gates and barriers.

Manufacturing: Doors, Screens, Glazing
We understand our rapid manufacturing capability is key in supporting our customers, however, in order to reduce exposure risk to staff within our business as much as possible through physical distancing, we have taken the decision to halt manufacturing and fabrication unless we receive a specific critical request from a business critical customer.
