Service & Maintenance requirements for
Automatic Door Compliance Checks & Safety
Automatic power operated pedestrian doors and their associated safety protection equipment require regular recorded compliance checks and maintenance to ensure they remain safe, protecting your building visitors and users.
MGS can advise on the frequency and program of maintenance required for your type of automatic door, ensuring you meet your responsibilities as the building occupier.
Your handover documents from the door installer or the manufacturer’s manual should also outline the frequency and program of maintenance required.
It is recommended that automatic doors are serviced at least annually to protect building users and ensure their safe and efficient operation. Every Quarter, we provide a detailed Service Report on the assets we maintain for you.
Any maintenance undertaken on a powered or automatic door system must be by a person qualified to the BS EN 16005 competency exam.
All MGS technicians are trained and accredited to EN 16005 under the ADSA (Automatic Door Suppliers Association) scheme to ensure your doors to conform to current legislation and standards and remain safe in use.
Automatic Door safety checks
In addition to a planned maintenance program, the building occupier is also required to perform weekly safety inspections of the complete door system. Records of these safety checks should be retained for at least a year. ADSA have helpfully produced these video guides to basic occupier safety checks for power operated automatic sliding doors and swing (hinged) pedestrian doors.
Ensuring safe operation for all building users
Maintenance of automatic powered pedestrian doors is necessary under Workplace Health & Safety legislation and BS EN 16005
As part of our preventative maintenance plan, our technicians will check compliance of all the associated safety measures necessary for your automatic door type and building environment, such as side screen protection, barriers and safety sensors to detect movement and presence.
Our estimators can provide technical design advice for disabled access to ensure accessibility for all building users. For more information or a site visit, get in touch.
